Coaching staff is a key management responsibility. Coaching
may be structured or opportunistic. Coaching staff requires special
skills that pay dividends in performance, morale and personal
effectiveness.
Overview
The definition of ‘management’ is ‘achieving results
through resources.’ Staff are the most common and valuable
resources available to managers/team leaders. A manager’s/team
leader’s success is therefore limited by the skills, knowledge and
productivity of his/her staff.
Coaching is imparting skills and knowledge. With effective
coaching, the skills, knowledge and productivity of staff
increases. Their ability to handle situations increases. This
means their productivity increases. This increases the
availability of time for the manager/team leader and other senior
members of staff. The effectiveness of all team members increases.
This allows the manager/team leader to focus on priority
objectives. The career of the manager/team leader is therefore
improved. Creating the next ‘generation’ of team leaders and
managers is a common requirement and measurement method of
managers/team leaders. Coaching Staff is a key element in this
requirement.
This practical and intensive course gives participants the key
skills and understanding they need to develop staff in a planned
manner or ad-hoc situations.
